OVERVIEW

Escape from the city and explore Luang Prabang’s beautiful countryside. Gain insight into the unique traditions of Laos’ hill tribe people, swim in the turquoise waters of Kuang Si waterfalls. Then chance to learn about the Laos Buffalo Dairy – a socially responsible, sustainable farm, and social enterprise. This is a perfect way to experience rural Laos.

DETAILED TOUR ITINERARY 

Early morning we drive out of town, this takes us to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the turquoise pool or walk along the forest trails. Next to the falls is a Bear Rescue Centre, which does a great job in protecting and rehabilitating the rare Asiatic Black Bear. Enjoy your lunch at Carpe Diem next to the waterfall.

We then transfer to the Laos Buffalo dairy, a social enterprise which helps underprivileged farmers with new sources of income by producing artisanal cheese from buffalo milk. Meet one of the managers for a guided tour around the farm and learn about the challenges, achievements and future plans. Get up close to the friendly buffalos and help to caretaker to wash and to feed the calves. Finish the tour with a tasting platter of different Buffalo-milk cheeses, Coffee and delicious homemade ice-cream at the café.

We return to Luang Prabang where you have the option to visit Mt Phousi for a climb up the sacred hill that offers spectacular sunset vista and a panoramic view over Luang Prabang and across the Mekong River.
